Our early summer outing takes us South to the Roman city of St Albans in fact the only city in Hertfordshire. The city’s colourful history can be seen in the Roman remains and the beautiful medieval architecture. Originally the city was known as Verlamion, then changed by the Romans to Verulamium. Later it became known as St Albans, after the first British Christian martyr, St Alban, who is reputed to be buried on the site where the Cathedral & Abbey Church now stands. The Cathedral is a must to visit with its nave of 84 metres in length, is the longest of any cathedral in England. On Saturdays there is a market from 9.00am till 4.00pm and in addition there is a good array of shopping with many small independent shops amongst the high street stores and a good selection of eating and drinking places. We will be making a stop at Frosts Garden centre near Milton Keynes for morning refreshments.
Our Coach will leave, Albrighton High Street at 8.15am and Trinity Methodist Church, Histons Hill, Codsall at 8.30am. We will be back in the evening by 6.30 /7.00pm
